Frequently asked questions
Are all staff qualified?
Yes. All coaches hold a British Gymnastics qualification as well as an enhanced DBS and a safeguarding children’s certificate. There are always a minimum of two first aiders at each session. Our Club also has a qualified welfare officer.
What happens once my child is offered a place with the Club?
Once your child has a place within the Club you will be required to pay a £20 which the Club will then use to pay your child’s British Gymnastics (BG) and Club Membership. You will however need to complete the BG membership process for your child yourself - Please follow the link on the class info page.
What will my child need to wear?
When your child first joins the Club they can wear leggings/shorts and t-shirt. Once your child has settled into the Club we have a range of Club uniform which we encourage our members to purchase.
Am I able to stay and watch my child?
You are welcome to watch your child during the first few weeks whilst they settle into the Club. After this we have ‘open sessions’ where you are invited to come in and watch your child in action. Any other requests to sit in are dealt with on an individual basis.
How do I pay?
Once your child joins the Club you have the option of paying weekly for the first two weeks. After this, we ask for the remainder of the term’s fees in advance. Fees for the following terms are always due within the first 2 weeks of a new term. If you have two children at the Club we accept payment each half term in advance. Where possible we ask for you to pay online via a bank transfer however we do currently accept payments by cash/cheque if necessary.
Are there opportunities to participate in Competitions?
Yes, we hold our annual club competition where gymnasts compete in teams of mixed age and ability in a friendly and familiar environment. Our competitive groups (by invitation only) also participate in various inter-club, county and regional competitions.
What age can you start?
We accept all ages from 3 years.
How much experience is required?
No experience is required to join, we welcome all gymnasts from beginner through to competitive level.
Can I get more involved with the Club?
Yes, we actively encourage and welcome help from parents with putting away equipment, fundraising, judging and coaching. Anyone who is interested in joining our ‘parents committee’ which organises events and helps with fundraising, please speak to Dawn or Barbara.
What should I do if my child is ill or cannot attend a session?
We kindly ask for you to let the Club know if your child is ill or cannot attend their session. We can be contacted by email: firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone. If your child misses two weeks without notification, the club reserves the right to remove them from the register and pass their place to a child from our waiting list.
Who should I speak to if I have a query?
All our coaches will be happy to help with any questions you may have. If they are unable to answer they will direct you to the most appropriate person.
