About Fareham School of Gymnastics

Updated: Apr 27, 2018

Fareham School of Gymnastics was opened in 2004 to bring Gymnastics skills to the young people of Fareham. It soon became extremely popular and now has over 500 members. The club has evolved from very small beginnings.

In January 2004 the club opened its doors for the first time with just a few mats, benches and a couple of box tops and its first 4 gymnasts! In just 3 months the success of the Club was evident by the opening of a second venue.

After two years of hard work and investment the club’s members were now able to experience, in addition to floor, trampette and vault, the Olympic style apparatus of the asymmetric bars and balance beams.

At this time, the Club’s membership had risen to over 375. Funding the training of more coaches and investment in equipment is a continuous process.

In the past we have received financial support from Portchester County Councillor’s Devolved Budget, Awards for all the Scottish/ Southern Energy.

This has enabled the Club to replace worn equipment and invest in additional facilities such as an inflatable tumble track and an Olympic vaulting table.

In 2008 the club was awarded Gym Mark, in recognition of the clubs ability to offer safe, effective and child friendly environment.

In November 2012 we received the British Gymnastics Southern Region Club of the Year Award for 2012/2013.

In February 2014 we received another annual reaccreditation for Gym Mark.
