Olympic Torch Comes to Fareham

We are sure many of you lined the streets of Fareham last Sunday (15th July) to watch the Olympic Torch pass through! It was a fantastic day for Fareham and an extra special day for Fareham School of Gymnastics.

Our Club’s Junior and Senior Squad members were honoured to perform for the people of Fareham prior to torch passing through. After a gruelling week of practice, the girl’s hard work paid off as they wooed the crowds with an

entertaining and professional display of gymnastics, dance and acrobatics.

Immediately after performing they joined the community parade, representing FSG alongside many other local Club’s and societies and cart wheeled the length of West Street!! The parade produced a carnival atmosphere with the whole of Fareham getting into the Olympic spirit, waving GB flags and gearing up for the arrival of the Olympic Torch.

At 4.20pm the Torch procession arrived and the Olympic flame made its way through Fareham and then onto Gosport and Portsmouth.

It was a truly memorable occasion for all involved and we are very proud of the 12 gymnasts who represented our Club so well on such a special day. I think for everyone involved, it will be a day that will never be forgotten!!
